- Downward Facing Dog – Adho Mukah Svanasana
To start, lie down on the floor on your stomach. Stretch your arms at one side and the legs on another pulling up your butt against the gravity, supporting your body with the hands and heels, in a form of a downward facing dog. Avoid bending your knees after a while. This is a very good pose for overall body strengthening.
- Warrior I – Virbhadrasana I
The basic Warrior I pose goes with stretching your first leg forward, second leg backward and standing with your hands folded in a “namaskar” position over your head. Start leaning backward towards your hips, keeping your legs parallel to the mat. Repeat the same with the other leg. This popular yoga pose is beneficial for overall stretching of the body.
- Child’s Pose
This one is a very popular yoga pose that can be easily performed even by the beginners. It helps with improving the digestive system and also relaxes the body. For this, start with kneeling down on the ground and sitting on your heels. Keep the knees together, start leaning forward with your arms stretched forward. Inhale when you lean and exhale as you relax. Stay in the same position for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Alternate Knee to Nose Pose
This one’s a great pose to heal all sorts of digestion and abdominal issues as it not just prepares the internal organs, but also strengthens and tones your abs. Start with lying on your back and stretched legs. Now, slowly start drawing your right knee upwards to the chest, and pull it as close as you can, using your arms. Keep regular breathing on, until you release the leg. Repeat the same with your other leg. Three to five stretches are more than enough for a visible workout.
- Cat-Cow Stretch – Chakravakasana
This can be called as one of the most popular yoga pose to learn for every yoga beginner. It helps relieve the most common day to day problem of back pain. Start with kneeling down and slowly stretching your palms on the mat resembling a cat or a cow. Look towards the ceiling, along with your butt pressing in the same way. Stretch as much as you can in the cow pose. Keeping your arms at the same parallel position, face downwards in a curl following the cat position.
